Since I'm still feeling a bit lazy from a wonderfully relaxing 4th of July weekend, why not devote today's entry to Volstagg, the very embodiment of "deferred responsibility"?
Opening with one of Jack Kirby's wonderful full-page crowd scenes, we find Thor arm-wrestling the braggart Goldolff...that is, until the Lion of Asgard's humongous hindquarters do their destiny-altering work (click on the pages for a larger Volstaggesque view)!
If you're looking for me, I'll be below searching for
cowards (and sharing a pint) with The Voluminous One!
That full-page arm-wrestling scene is one of my favorite bits by Kirby, ever. Perfect perspective and flawless execution.

I used to wonder--I guess all Asgardians had, compared to us humans, Thor-level strength and abilities--even those who were unknown by and not worshiped by viking-era Scandinavians.
Therefore, when Thor visited home, he
was an above-average champion among equals.
