Superheroes are supposed to be chummy pals fighting injustice with a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect, right? Well, for the most part, that's true...but occasionally even the superhero community can see conflict between two heroes boil over into a long-term rivalry.
One of the most famous (and enduring) of these intramural rivalries has been the bad blood between Batman and a tempestuous member of the Green Lantern Corps named Guy Gardner.
Beginning with the reformation of the Justice League in the late 80's, Guy (like so many bullying blowhards) had trouble taking orders from Batman, the no-nonsense leader of the new team. By the time Justice League #5 (1987) rolled around, Guy snapped and directly challenged Batman for the League's "top dog" status. Here's how that worked out for him...

Now...that classic "fist hits Guy, Guy hits floor" scene is strong enough to be its own Highlight Reel clip, but a more recent scene from Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #1 (2005) has to be included to make it clear there's no end in sight for the Guy Gardner-Batman feud.
Hmmm. Maybe "no end in sight" wasn't the best choice of words...
Hillarious as that was (and nice to see DC isn't completely dark and moody), I have to take issue with the first sentence. I assumed you've read a Marvel comic. I don't mean recently. Marvel heroes beating the snot out of each other is such a Marvel trope that it was in the Sergio Massacres Marvel parody.
